Tony MacAlpine había nacido para la música y a la edad de 6 años estudiaba piano clásico y violín al mismo tiempo. Se dio a conocer en 1986 haciendo lo que a él le gusta más, Heavy Metal vituoso, con un proyecto en solitario que dio lugar al álbum Edge of Insanity que tuvo una buena acogida. En 1987 lanza su álbum más éxitoso Maximum Security. Tony es uno de los principales representantes del Metal Neoclásico mezclando en su estilo Heavy Metal, música Clásica y algo de Jazz. Además de guitarrista es también pianista y ha grabando los teclados de todos sus discos. También ha participado en bandas como G3, Planet X, Devil's Slingshot, CAB, o M.A.R.S, y sido colaborador de grandes artistas como Steve Vai, Billy Sheehan, Mike Portnoy o Derek Sherinian. Tony Mac Alpine was born for music and when he was only six years old he was learning to play Piano and violin at the same time. He became to general adknowledgement in 1986 doing whatever he most liked to do, virtuous Heavy Metal, with a solo project that came to fuitión with the album "Edge of insanity" that was nicely greeted. In 1987 he releases his most sucessfull album callled "Maximum Security". Tony is one of the main faces of Neoclasical Heavy Metal, being his maner of playing a hodgepodge oh Clasical music, Heavy Metal and Jazz. Aside from being a guitar player he also plays piano and has recorded all the keyboards  pieces in his own albums. He has also taken part in bands like G·, Planet X, Devil's slingshot, CAB or M.A.R.S. and has been usuall collaborator of great artists like Steve Vai, Billy Sheehan, Mike Portnoy o Derek Sherinian.
