Ward  and his friend Tony Iommi played together in a  band called  "Mithology" before they both joined Ozzy Osbourne and Geezer Butler that were so far playing in  the project "Rare Breed". He remained in Black Sabbath betwen 1969 y 1980, and later he has been part of rhe band in many other lapses due to his health problems. He is a great drums player that gave Black Sabbath a big part of it's personallity.  It is funny to remark that Bill Ward also sings in two song of Black Sabbath,  It's Alright  from the album Technical Ecstasy  and Swinging the Chain from the album Never Say Die.
